Position Summary
The Manual QA Tester – Mobile plays a critical role in ensuring quality across iOS and Android applications by partnering closely with engineering throughout the development lifecycle. This role operates within a shift-left QA model, contributing early to feature planning, testability discussions, and validation of both UI and backend interactions. The position requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to balance hands-on testing with proactive quality advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Own QA validation for mobile features from early development through production release
- Apply shift-left testing principles by participating in story refinement and testability discussions
- Execute manual, exploratory, and regression testing across iOS and Android platforms
- Validate API interactions and mobile endpoints using tools such as Charles Proxy
- Create, maintain, and expand test cases and coverage within TestRail
- Document defects clearly and partner with engineers to drive resolution
- Collaborate with automation engineers to identify high-value test cases for automation
- Contribute to QA best practices, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a QA tester, QA analyst, or QA engineer role
- Hands-on experience testing mobile applications on iOS and Android devices and emulators
- Strong understanding of QA best practices including shift-left testing, exploratory testing, and edge case analysis
- Experience executing test cycles and reporting results with clear documentation
- Experience validating API interactions or mobile endpoints
- Proficiency with Android Studio and Xcode
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within Agile Scrum teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing comprehensive manual test plans and test strategies
- Experience using Charles Proxy or similar network inspection tools
- Familiarity with issue tracking and collaboration tools such as Jira or other Atlassian products
- Exposure to design or collaboration tools such as Figma
- Experience working within Google Workspace environments
- Experience with mobile performance benchmarking or profiling
